| Now called the Kennet Arms since the old landlord departed to the Horse and Jockey. The inside is all 'new bar', laminated tiles and shiny pumps, with pass�e scrawls along the bar ("what happens in the Kennet stays in the Kennet") etc. No ales on, Guinness was OK I guess. Music stupidly loud for a Tuesday evening. There was a plasma screen on but turned to mute so what's the point? Half-finished garden out the back with two roaming 'puppy' dogs. | only been in this pub twice, sadly two times too many in my experience. i'd read the reviews on this site and was expecting a warn welcome, sadly it couldn't have been any more different. the bar staff were self involved in either their mobile phones or chatting to their mates, heaven forbid you should actually want them to pour a pint! now, I could imagine that i might have called in on a bad day, but both times i passed by were equally unmemorable. they certainly won't be getting my vote (or money) in future! pintinevening - 20 Jan 2009 21:01 |
| I HAVE ONLY REGISTERED ON THIS SITE TO TELL THE WORLD THAT THIS BAR IS THE GREATEST IRISH BAR IN THE WORLD!!!! I HAVE TRAVELLED THE WORLD AND SAMPLED A LOT OF BARS AND THIS ONE IS HEADS AND TAILS ABOVE ALL OTHERS.. EVERY PERSON I MEET ON MY TRAVELS AND WEN THEY ASK FOR THE BEST BAR IN IRELAND I TELL THEM ITS IN ENGLAND!
