Ah yes the good old Boatman ;) The pub itself had 2 barmaids working which was a bonus ;) Although any sexual innunedo was avoided at all costs. Two ales stood out, one being a Hogs Back beer of some type, the other beer being a Tillingbourne Ale. The Tillingbourne was a decent pint of a beer as you'd expect. The pub was basically completely empty on an early Wednesday afternoon. Where do the people of the River Wey in Guildford go? A reasonably relaxing pub to have a drink in, although a little too gastro to my taste. Nothing much to look at for entertainment other than views of the River. JabbingJubbly - 30 Jan 2013 15:12 |
Now 3 real ales on :) EyeOfTheTigerBeer - 25 Jul 2012 17:20 |
i went into the pub today and saw what i think is the landlady screaming and her staff and at a customer i would say if you have children don't take them to this pub as they don't care about there language or about how they act in front of other customers i got called stupid by a guy who said he was the supervisor and when i asked to speak to some one else he said they will not care, there beer tasted horrible being a landlord my self it was as if they hadn't cleaned there lines in months. There half pint glasses are all dirty and wine glasses with watermarks. If any one ask's to go to this pub (if you can call it that) i would prefer to go to weather spoons on a Friday night. the building itself is beautifull, and is ideally placed 10 mins walk out of the town centre. this place does look a bit 'gastro-pub' like inside, but its a decent gastro pub. i had great service and a nice IPA. in the sun sine the out side area by the river is wonderfull, and worth the visit for that alone. you feel 100 miles form guildford and can watch the slow boats and ducks go by, with the park and trees on the other bank. very very decent summer spot. Also, minimum amount taken on bank cards is 5 which is good, as its a fair walk back to the nearest cash point. CHELSEA_on_tour - 27 Jul 2011 10:59 |
Looks a bit gastro but decent ales - Hammerpot HPA, Andwell Gold Muddler and Shere Drop (3.30). Pleasant sitting by the river. GuideDogSaint - 23 Jul 2011 21:45 |
