user reviews of the Crown Inn, Kings Lynn

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Crown was our 5th pub on our Norfolk crawl yesterday. None of the previous 4 (Berney Arms at Barton Bendish, King's Arms at Shouldham, Gate at Fair Green or Sandboy at Bawsey) are listed on the site. The Crown is a Greene King establishment with a predominantly local clientele. Most of them appeared to like using 'fruity' language. The interior is fairly pleasant with a small bar area as you enter and a larger room as you turn to the left. Beyond that is the entrance to the garden, the toilets and a dining room. Nobody was eating on our visit. Ales are mostly from Greene King - Abbot, IPA & Old Speckled Hen. There was also a seasonal beer called Bermuda Joe's with was very fruity indeed. In addition, they had Orkney Kittiwake. Despite the language, the locals seemed friendly. They could do with a complete set of dominoes!

I visisted the Crown & Mirtre for a luchtime drink and was very impressed with the originality of the pub and the upstairs part has the most amazing view. My parents had a 50th golden wedding coming later that year & we thought that it would be an ideal venue. I approached the Landlord & Landlady to enquire about this. They were both very helpfull and offered to prepare the food for the event too. All the guests were very impressed (some mixed race were guests too!!) The food was second to none and the service was excellent, they both could not do enough for my parents day. I would definately visit this pub again as the ale drinking guests were pleased with the variety and quality of the real ale. The Landlord is very knowledgable about the towns history and offers this information. A perfect day.... THANKYOU!!

It's about two years ago that I suggested this Pub.
However, we have been back on quite a few occasions, so I can still make a relevant review.

It's a Greene King Pub, which doesn't bode well in my book. However, I tried the Greene King XX Mild. A very nice brew, indeed. The food comes in fair portions, either from the menu or the buffet, and is of good quality, as is the welcome from the Staff. Dogs are most welcome in the bar area. Service is good too. We will definitely call in again when in the area.
