I quite liked the small village pub. There are 2 or 3 separate areas - a dining area at the one end and drinking areas around the bar and at the other end. The landlord was very friendly and gave the option of trying the ales before choosing. The ale selection was Celt Experience Castell Coch, Hancocks HB, Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbody's Golden Ale & Sharps Doom Bar. It's no surprise that the pub was the Vale of Glamorgan & Bridgend CAMRA pub of the year 2014. The only thing lacking was a real cider. Although they do have some Gwynt y Ddraig offerings in bottles.

A very friendly and welcomng pub. Well kept Thomas Watkins bitter and Evan Evans has also appeared recently. Nice country atmosphere given by the bare stone walls and fireplace. As with many Vale pubs (pubs everywhere!!) it follows the formula of having a small "locals drinking area" in front of the bar. Off to one side by the fire ,is a drinking or eating area. Off to the other side is the more formal restaurant. There's a nice menu which is competitively priced:- the French onion soup starters is like a meal in itself. And I like the local touches such a lava bread and bacon. The landlady will give you a great welcome and is basically as mad as a box of cats!!!

We were heading for Cowbridge for lunch back in April when we passed the Red Fox and as it looked so well kept we thought we'd stop for lunch. The pub has a nice traditional atmosphere and was taken over four years ago by a couple who have obviously put a lot of effort into making a go of it. We chose off the specials menu, my wife tried the faggots which were tasty (I tried some of hers) but she didnt manage to finish them as they were nearly as big as tennis balls. I had chicken wrapped in bacon with a pate filling which I did finish. Although served in the modern tower style the portions are filling though my meal had too much salt added for my taste. I tried both the Thos. Watkins OSB & Evan Evans Cwrw ales on pump. Both beers tasted fine but not as good as Brains ordinary bitter.
