Another good Chesterfield pub in the Brampton area of the town, dispensing local Brampton Ales plus guests. Brampton beers on were Stout, Best, Golden Bud & Wasp Nest. Guests were Abbeydale Brainstorm, Everards Tiger, North Yorkshire Love Muscle & Robinsons Old Tom. Westons Old Rosie & Bounds Scrumpy were on for lovers of the apple. I went for the Brampton Stout and it was my beer of the day. The bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the customers had a similar disposition. It's a definite 8/10 from me. My only criticism was that the main bar/lounge area didn't quite feel as atmospheric as many other pub. A wall separating the bar area from the seating area doesn't help. However the small snug looked very cosy. Definitely worth the trek out of town here. blue_scrumpy - 5 Jan 2012 21:41 |
Excellent corner house pub refurbed in a proper pub style. Plenty of ales on of which the Brampton Best was a top notch pint. Friednly staff and locals - worth the short trek out/bus ride from town. anonymous - 10 Jul 2011 12:45 |
Brampton Brewery have done a superb job here, breathing new life into a run of the mill back street boozer with their first foray into pub ownership. Now it boasts six or seven handpumps at any one time, with an Everards or two and regularly changing guest beers sitting alongside the full Brampton range. Still has that newly refurbished feel which is a slight turn-off, but will have a bit more character when it's been open longer. Only real criticism is that it took me forever to get served in the small snug at the rear of the bar, and in the end I gave up trying to attract attention and walked round into the main pub. Why have a serving hatch if you're not going to serve at it? rob1981 - 22 Mar 2011 22:02 |
Can't praise this place too highly, since it was taken over by the local Brampton Brewery. Has all the Brampton range, beautifully kept; lots of room which is handy as it gets jammed at weekends. dhderby - 27 Feb 2011 18:12 |
