The Red Lion appears to be the only pub in Old Colwyn listed on here. However, it was my 4th pub in this small town, after the Plough, the Cuckoo and the Sun Inn. The Red Lion is however the best of the 4. Whilst it was very quiet, it was my favourite pub of the day. They have a good selection of ales and a couple of ciders. Morland Old Golden Hen, Ringwood Boondoggle, Hydes Friendship Ruby Ale, Bridestones Brautsteiner, Adnams Broadside, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Marstons Burton Bitter & Holdens Black Country Mild were the ales. Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Farmhouse Scrumpy were the ciders. Old Colwyn is well worth a short pub crawl. There are ales in all the 4 pubs I tried and the pubs are only a short walk apart. blue_scrumpy - 25 Aug 2014 08:42 |
The Red Lion was recommended to us by friends whilst we stayed for a few days in Llandudno. We caught the 12 Arriva bus to Old Colwyn and what a find, the Red Lion was even better than we expected. Its a proper pub, the staff are friendly and welcoming, theres a good range of real ales and its spotlessly clean. We had a great night and returned each evening during our stay in Wales. Try their Thirsty Thursday night, nine real ales at only 2.25 pint, fantastic value. We wish we had a great pub like this near where we live. Well definitely call here again next time were in North Wales. Well done the Red Lion. alelovinchick - 8 Nov 2012 21:13 |

Always and interesting range of ales available in this lovely boozer. This was our last port of call on a long pub crawl via the Arriva 12. Warm and friendly welcome, maybe we should have stayed here and done a tap crawl instead!! LickeyEndBooze - 3 Oct 2010 16:45 |
