Large and busy Robinson's pub and restaurant in the village centre. Came in just before 8.45 on a Friday night and most diners had finished eating, the smell of food lingered a little but wasn't too off putting. Nicely decorated which makes the pub feel very welcoming as soon as you enter. The front bar area was full of men drinking. A stone floor at the front then into a wooden floor towards the toilets. Large open fireplace also towards the rear of the dinning room. 5 cask ales on with 3 of them from Robinson's. My pint of Trooper was good. The other 2 ales were both from Cumbrian breweries. A nice looking and welcoming pub with a good range of ales, that's worth a visit if you're in Kirkby Lonsdale. lezford - 5 Aug 2015 13:43 |
I disagree with the below review of this pub. I quite liked the layout of the place and fancied a few items on the menu. Popped in around 4pm on Monday 11th April. A nice lady aged around 50 spoke to us and we were impressed enough to return later that evening for dinner. Seemed to have changed somewhat on our return. Only a few locals dotted around at the bar and the music was a bit loud and that modern R & B rubbish. Not the best atmosphere. 5 of us were given menus and took seats in the corner by the window. I went to the bar to place the drinks order, but the young barmaid (mid 20's maybe) ignored me, whilst she continued her story to a local. Something about leaning out of a window and shouting at someone who was breaking into something. I don't really mind swearing in pubs, but when it's done by staff (even as part of a story), it doesn't create that great an impression. Got fed up being ignored and took our five meals plus drinks order to the Orange Tree. Pat_Bateman - 15 Apr 2011 12:13 |
A Robinsons pub as can be seen by the large beer signs above the bar. On this visit they had Unicorn and Smooth with 2 guest beers Hartleys XB and Cumbrian way. Tried both Hartleys and preferred the XB as it was maltier, but both were just a little on the cold side. The open plan especially at the front lets this pub down a bit, perhaps some partitions could help. It feels like you are drinking in a large draughty hallway, looked better through the back if you were eating but still feels a bit open. It also has the feeling of being more of a hotel than a pub. Still a good watering place. Wirral_RealAlians - 22 Apr 2010 22:05 |
