| A sign on the outside of the pub advertises; Good food, good ale and a grumpy landlord. Well, two out of three isn't too bad. Disappointingly, the landlord wasn't grumpy! No, he was very charming and welcoming, chatted to us as if we were regulars. Superb choice of real ales: Wadworth 6X, Proper Job, Legend, Betty Stoggs and two from Otter brewery; Amber and Otter Ale. Food was excellent. The chef cooked the best omelette I have ever tasted. | Visited twice on two consecutive nights while staying near Tavistock. Brilliant food and perfectly served beer both nights, along with friendly service. Will definitely eat here again when next in the area. pubscouter - 1 Feb 2015 17:18 |
| A pub in a beautiful location but a little disappointing internally - called for a Sunday lunch on the way to Cornwall and had one of the best sirloin steaks ever - no Sunday roasts available - I went to the bar to give thanks for the good food and pay and was met by a stressed and not very friendly bar girl, despite the pub being near empty.
