Please be very careful and check your bill. We had a nice meal here, it is gastro food so be prepared to pay a lot more than standard pub fare prices. I don't have an issue with that, the food was very good. My issue is with the utter lack of customer service. Having a celebratory evening, we indulged on wine and cocktails to compliment the food. We were charged (I assumed) in error for 7 instead of 5 cocktails. We flagged this after paying the bill and realizing the mistake had been made, then the trouble began. A genuine lack of interest suddenly developed, my partner was spoken over numerous times but eventually, it was agreed we could go back and enjoy the paid for cocktails or simply get a refund to the card. The difference to the £150 bill was neglible but in matters like this, I'm sure you agree it's the principle. My partner went back to sort out the £16 refund a day or so later and this time, was met with what I can only describe as blatant hostility. Was called a liar, accused of being "Pixx!ed" on the night and told categorically no refund and that we would not have been offered that. Seriously appalling service, short sighed and rude as we will never set foot in the restaurant again and will make sure everyone we know does not do so either. I am disgusted by this lack of basic service and the audacity to call a well paying and polite customer names is simply not acceptable. Arrogant and argumentative staff really should be reigned in (Roxanne) and assistant managers (Jackie), I would hope would be able to diffuse issues rather than accelerate them. I truly hope someone from the group gets to read this and address the issues. It is too late for us, the damage has been done but your reputation clearly is worth nothing to this venue, they treated clients carelessly and that will have far reaching consequences as I doubt we are in isolation. Such as shame but please, do yourself a favour and avoid these terrible people or I fear you will be treated the same or worse. Pho3nix - 14 Aug 2013 17:35 |

I can't see how this pub gets such a low average rating. I agree that it's not a 'drinkers' pub or a ' community' pub but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Most pubs that fit into those boxes are cliquey, unfriendly, shit tips. At least the Ginger Pig is clean, looked after, serves some good spirits that you don't see in any old boozer and the staff seem friendly and literate. They do some good cocktails and there's a decent wine list and the lager doesn't taste like someone's farted into it before selling it to you. It's more a pub for couples, young professionals and quiet types rather than for cocaine addicted, debt ridden plasterers and aggressive roofer types with their children's names tattooed all over their arms. montyperera - 12 Jan 2012 12:11 |
We went there yesterday for lunch before we set off for the Elton John Concert. We must have had our invisible heads on as it took ages to attract someone's attention. First of all the menu was limited. I ordered the Duck Pate to start as I don't like fish and the thought of eating raw steak (Steak Tartare) makes me feel quite ill. Sadly they'd sold out. So, no starter for me. I then had breast of corn fed chicken (must have been a very small chicken) on a bed of mash and crushed peas. Unfortunately that was no better and much smaller than I could have cooked at home. We should have known better really, we've eaten at the Ginger Fox at Albourne and were equally disappointed. brightonboy3449 - 27 Jun 2011 06:59 |
