A hotel bar and restaurant really, but i was very impressed by the lovely decor, friendly, knowledgeable staff and superb building and setting. Wherry on Keg, plus some hand pulls. Food was amazing (we hand lunchtime steak sandwich, but mains also looked great), and not overly priced for this part of North Norfolk. Dog and kid friendly in all areas.. Clay (Pronounced Cly) is stunning... follow the footpath next to the beer garden (in front of pub over road) to go past the tiny harbour, windmill and into the wetlands and marshes... Amazing bird life... Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 1 Feb 2022 22:53 |
One of the best sausage sandwiches with home cut fries that I have ever had and the Winter's Golden was a good pint too at £3.70 a pint. Greene King St Edmunds, Abbot Ale and Woodfordes Wherry were also on sale on handpull as well as keg GK Yardbird Pale Ale, a cider from Aspalls and 52 (yes 52) different whiskeys. paul_d102 - 24 Jul 2015 17:11 |
Pretty hotel pub on the main CLey village Road (busy and snarled up with traffic). The interior does not match up to the character of the exterior as It's been given a rtestaraunt style makeover inside with tables and chairs for dining. Staff are polite and like to talk about the different beers on offer, one of which was the very local Yetmans, 3.50 a pint I think, and a good pint. brisk - 14 Sep 2012 13:01 |
Stopped off for sustenance and sat in the beer garden to eat. Excellent setting and it was a nice drop of cider too. tommo5 - 11 Aug 2011 18:20 |
NIce 'coaching-inn' style pub, right on a sharp, narrow, corner on the main coast road. Attractive architectural features in terracotta on exterior. Bar area is divided up into a small area next to the corner entrance and a larger area through a doorway. There is a large garden area with picnic tables and umbrellas on the other side of the main road, so customers and staff have to dodge the traffic to get between the pub and the garden, but, even on busy summer days, there are plenty of gaps in the traffic (as it negotiates the narrow corners through this attractive seaside village). The sea view that would once have been available from the garden is now blocked by higher sea defences. Several good ales were on offer on my recent visit, and the pint of Adnam's Broadside that I chose was in excellent condition. Food menu is extensive and varied, and includes items featuring locally-caught produce, such as crab. Bar staff were attentive and very friendly and welcoming. FotWBF - 3 Aug 2011 00:19 |
