No dogs. No children. No hi-viz jackets. No fruit machines. No sport TV - that I saw. No loud grime. No dart board. Several ales, comfortable chairs, and hotel bar prices. Seven-out-of-ten. Hulots_hat - 25 Sep 2018 08:23 |
The bar features a blackboard stating the various ales, their home, and their distance in miles from the pub. We stuck to the nearest, Lancer, brewed in Winchcombe, and we were not disappointed. It was a fresh, crisp, light, hoppy composition, and just what was needed on a bright, warm, sunny evening. The tables outside adjoining the village green made for a very pleasant situation in which to enjoy it too. eddybeer - 3 Jul 2016 20:20 |
5 beers on hand pump. Not keen on Wickwar beers but Lancer from Goffs very good (until it ran out) and Hooky bitter. Tried Theakston Old Peculiar which is local to us but had travelled well and was well kept and similar price to North Yorkshire. Rocky53 - 14 Feb 2016 10:14 |
It's a hotel bar open to non-residents, with a fair selection of ales. Prices are rather more than a straight pub as you'd expect, but it's still a pleasant experience. The interior is a mix of ancient and modern, with a smart bar and similar furnishings, but there are many old architectural features along with a large open fire. It is warm and comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere, and I recommend it. eddybeer - 8 Feb 2016 23:18 |
Popular with Broadway locals. No guest ales, yet, but good local brews from Wickwar Brewery in Gloucestershire: Cotswold Way, Bob and Coopers. Symonds cider on tap and Old Mout in bottles. Also, lots of draft lagers and bottled beers. Reasonable menu which is reviewed regularly and daily specials. Fantastic location on a warm summer evening, being right on the green.
