Was packed when I entered but most of the customers were passing cyclists but Shaldon is a small tourist town so I expect the place gets packed in the summer especially as the beer garden sits next to the estuary Friendly locals and staff, revisited Saturday night and the place was empty but the perfect place in Shaldon to enjoy a pint or two wooser - 3 Apr 2022 13:30 |
Popped in here between the Clifford and The Ness. The Regatta was on so it was pretty busy with most of the punters out the front by the water. 4 ales on tap these were Greene King Abbot Ale, Teignworthy Old Moggie, Sharps Doom Bar & Two Beach Brewing Shag…which I’d had the day beer at a beer festival. My choice of Old Moggie was excellent. The service by the 3 attentive bar staff was very quick. A large Nautical themed inside the pub with lots of references to the pubs closeness to the sea. A mentioned above there’s a nice area at the front which faces the sea, standing room only here so we enjoyed our 1 drink each inside the pub. The pub grub looked pretty good. lezford - 1 Sep 2014 13:48 |
When describing small West Country villages, R.K. Rowling once wrote that they were: ‘Sizzling with the malice of small minds’, and never have I felt that more fitting than upon my venture into The Ferry Boat Inn. Having lived in Teignmouth all my life, the occasional walk across the bridge to Shaldon is not unheard of; I often enjoy an evening with friends in a friendly Shaldon pub. However our half an hour stay in The Ferry Boat Inn was far from enjoyable. After being subject to the land lady’s verbal abuse for 20 minutes, we were then all questioned on our vocations, sworn at profusely and forced to endure the passive-aggressive stream of consciousness that stumbled thoughtlessly from her lips. I would not expect this sort of treatment from a stranger on the street, let alone a business owner that had happily taken our money. It was a truly appalling experience and I would suggest a wide berth be taken by anyone who wishes to spend time with friends in a friendly atmosphere and be treated with respect. We went there in the winter and sat inside. After reading the reviews here i wished we had gone during a hot sunny day and sat outside. Inside was ok but a little on the cramped side. 7/10 montie49 - 24 Feb 2012 20:08 |
The beachside beer garden was packed on Sunday afternoon and a BBQ was on the go, 2 attractive young ladies were serving very efficiently and the beer was in good order. A great pub to while away an hour or two in. The little ferry to Teignmouth goes from the beach nearby. Hodge1 - 3 Oct 2011 06:18 |
