user reviews of the Horse and Jockey, Knighton

Pleased to say that 9 years after Paul revived this, The Horse and Jockey hasn’t changed… Wye Valley Butty Bach and Bishops Castle xxx tuns still being poured in excellent condition along with Robinson’s Flagon cider.. we stayed in one of the rooms above the courtyard, which, while small, was comfortable (if slightly overpriced)… The great thing about this pub is the staff and the locals... always busy, always loud, but a real pub.. Food also great..

Had a nice lunch today washed down with a pint of Three Tuns XXX in the restaurant which is the old stable block. The separate bar area looked pretty cosy and Butty Bach and a 3.6% Molson Coors brewed house ale were also being served here. Cider was Robinson's Flagon which is always good to see. The group of buildings at this location are of late medieval origin and have architectural interest.

Very friendly pub with decent food. Good real ale, though the cider's shockingly bad, unfortunately.

Interesting inn with various buildings set around a picturesque courtyard. Avoiding the larger and noisier main bar, the compact lounge offers a convivial spot to enjoy a pint of old Speckled Hen or the local Hobson's bitter. Also has a busy restaurant and some good-value accommodation. (NB - Review dates from September 2009, before the pub was listed on BITE.)
