Nice food early on our Saturday evening when the pace was quiet then the local young farmers and hooligans turned up. They hover around your table getting pissed and totally spoiled our night. Steamsite - 23 Oct 2013 17:19 |
Last stop on our Shropshire crawl, the Bucks Head is a Marstons pub in a nice building in the pretty market town of Church Streeton. The inside is a fair size with a few separate drinking areas and a separate restaurant that was quite busy. Drinkers were also in abundance on our Saturday evening arrival. Staff were friendly. Beers were Jennings Cocker Hoop, Marstons Pedigree & Ashes Ale & Banks's Bitter. Cider was Thatchers Heritage. Not a bad Marstons pub as Marstons pubs go. blue_scrumpy - 5 Aug 2013 19:29 |
The corner to your left is known locally as cliquie corner. By mid afternoon it's full of assorted doleys and alcoholics. The rest of the pub is devoid of atmosphere and is just a big empty room. Boring at night. Nice beer garden in summer and nice smoking area unless you are joined by the alcoholics. Cumbo - 17 Nov 2012 20:04 |
Nice large welcoming pub with friendly staff. Right in the centre of town, 8 mins walk from the station. Good range of ales. All from the Marstons range; Banks, Ringwood, Jennings and of course good old Pedigree. Had lunch here on Saturday afternoon. I had Lasagne and my Dad Scampi. Above average food serve with side dishes of vegetables. Decent pub, worth a visit rwjc22 - 10 Jun 2012 18:47 |
Despite a limited menu we were well satisfied with our dinners. The steak pie was enormous and came with masses of chips, vegetables AND salad. Beers are from the Marstons stable. The Bucks Head is a fine landmark on the high street, and apparently the oldest building in Church Stretton, but you wouldn't know it from the inside. It's pleasant enough, but the anonymous decor fails to make the most of its heritage. rentaquote - 26 Sep 2011 19:35 |
