Love this pub! Great food and drink offering, service good and decor perfectly done. Highly recommend! ascot177 - 13 Jan 2013 11:51 |
The occasion was my wife's birthday, there were four of us on a Saturday evening. Could not find a parking space which we thought to be a positive (parked against the wall eventually). The bar and restaurant were nicely decorated although a bit crowded with tables too near to each other and having that many people in a confined area created a very loud atmosphere, so had to almost shout to hold a conversation. The food portions were almost nouveau cuisine (small and pretentious) and very average quality for the price and the drinks were overpriced with a bottle of Budweiser at 3.75 and glass of house wine at 5. The Moorland was 3.20 a pint - not a bad pint. My wife had the pan fried cod (very small and overcooked) wrapped in parma ham, which came out without the parma ham or poached egg - sent back and another came out within a couple of minutes with no explanation or apology as to why ? - I had the burger and chips - again not enough on the plate a small burger and only a few small oily chips - I won't bore with the other meals and starters, but suffices to say we will not be returning to this average overpriced establishment any time soon. Used to be a great pub but since new Chain ownership standards have fallen. Prices have gone up, service has got slower and a previous favourite, the pizzas, have disappeared. Wont be going back princejames1 - 22 Aug 2011 22:40 |
Didn't think that this place could get any worse but apparently Greene King have taken over and installed some muppet in a suit as manager. Menu from HQ in Suffolk, atmosphere from outer space ie NONE theoldchef - 13 Feb 2011 19:10 |
