Cosmopolitan style cafe/bar - our early afternoon visit saw a mix of families eating, people calling in for a coffee and those there for a pint. Decent selection of cask ales available, we tried the Wainwright which was very palatable. alexw - 24 Mar 2013 08:04 |
I got the immediate impression as I entered the place that it was more of an eating venue. Pint of porter was more than palatable. Extensive cocktails menu on the blackboard for the more adventurous drinker. Candles used throughout which further made me think it was a place to take the other half - rather than a gang turning up for a "session." realalerules1983 - 30 Dec 2012 18:48 |
Great addition to the thriving Chorlton bar scene. Superb choice of 5 real ales (not the usual suspects) lots of decent quality lager, Staropramen, Krombacher and Warsteiner and even Franziskaner wheat beer. Great juke box, with unique selections from Manchester artists. They make fantastic cocktails as well. The team behind Manchester's greatest club after the Hacienda certainly know how to create a very good bar and they promote it well Scottie_chorlton - 22 Nov 2010 10:32 |
An excellent bar / cafe / social house, right in the centre of Chorlton-cum-Hardy. Not your identikit brewery run pub, but a true independant with flair by the shovelful. Staff are a great bunch of characters, and clearly love what they do. An excellent range of British and Continental Ales and Beers, from the cask and the bottle; sensible wine list and excellent Cocktails made with real care and attention, even at the busiest times. There are door staff at busy times; which can be a bad sign for a bar, but it's clear here that they know who to send around the corner to the Royal Oak, and who to welcome in. chorltonian - 16 Nov 2010 11:56 |
