The London & County is a branch of Wetherspoon's, situated on a corner just opposite the railway station. It made a convenient first port of call in Eastbourne yesterday lunchtime. It was quite busy, with most tables taken and the pub was doing a roaring trade in food sales. There was the usual Wetherspoon's selection of Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar. Guests were Long Man Best Bitter, Wood's Shropshire Lad & Lacon's Affinity. The 3 real ciders were Weston's Old Rosie, Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. It wasn't my round. So, no idea on pricing. Otherwise, not a bad start for a short crawl of the town. blue_scrumpy - 27 Oct 2019 10:04 |
I travel the country and this is the most expensive weatherspoons and nowhere near the best Bobeasty - 21 Mar 2015 15:35 |
Popped in last Friday for a couple after work, the Adnams Broadside, one of my favourites, was in absolutely first class condition and at £2.75 not expensive either! Yes, there are some nicer real ale pubs within walking distance, but you will undoubtedly pay £1 more for something similar! The pub can get extremely busy.....but hang on, if it's too quiet there's either something wrong with it or it's about to be closed down. Ade.The.Raider - 17 Mar 2015 15:32 |
Why this 'pub' is in the 2015 Good Beer Guide is a complete mystery to me. There is a fair range of ales (but not that cheap), I suppose, but they all seem to taste the same. And I thought CAMRA were supposed to be against the 'one size fits all' pubs owned by the conglomerates. Must have been wrong all these years! There are several really good pubs just around the corner. They are in the Guide and rightly so. WipersTom - 2 Jan 2015 12:41 |
This a Lloyds No 1 bar with 2 lounges on 2 floors. A good choice of real ales but rather expensive for a Wetherspoons. More comfortable than you typical Wetherspoons. Appears to be a young person's pub based on my visit. Can get noisy when full. boozers_knows - 25 Nov 2013 12:09 |
