As a sole traveller I am a fan of Wetherspoon's pubs: early opening, good beer range, standardised menu & fair prices. I am also aware of its downside reputation as a bar for cheap drunks of a certain age, but as one of that demographic I can hardly complain. This pub is a fine example of a well run 'Spoons: clean, sufficient staff, prompt meal service. I ate here twice on my recent Glasgow visit & enjoyed both meals, & the pints of Doom Bar (2.45) were quite good too. Queenslander - 8 Sep 2016 22:52 |
Telly too loud on a Saturday night. Also ale selection limited. ArhurPint - 16 Jun 2014 00:31 |
Not a bad Wetherspoons (OK Lloyds) and a decent beer - busy at weekends when they have music and doormen but it's alright alhough a bit young for me. mcroyal - 20 May 2014 10:40 |
Wetherspoons pubs are not really my cup of tea, but this is one of the better Wetherspoons of my experience, nicely carpeted, clean toilets, apart from one or two of the usual Wetherspoons Wasters a decent clientele (mainly local workers and shoppers in the late afternoon) and I was served a fine pint of Edinburgh Gold by a pleasant and competent young woman for 1.55. Maybe my experience was not par for the course, but I will certainly call again. Stamfordian - 23 Jul 2010 10:59 |
The type of establishment manic depressives go to when they are contemplating suicide, i kid you not ale hounds. Dark, sterile, lacking any kind of bite or atmosphere. Served by an anal retentive whose grasp of the english language was deeply suspect at best. Sampled a bitter by Cairngorm which was served far too cold resulting in a beer with no taste and therefore undrinkable. NEVER AGAIN.... nokegthanks - 22 Jul 2010 14:33 |
