| After visits to the nearby New Unity Pub and the Unbarred Brewery & Taproom (neither listed on BITE), our last stop of the night in Brighton was the World's End. The main entrance is on London Road. But, we entered from Elder Place at the rear. The bar felt more like a nightclub late in the evening, with very loud music. The clientele were mostly youngsters. A large upstairs room appeared to have all kind of games. Just 2 cask ales were on - Laine's Breaker & Tiny Rebel Cwtch. Craft beers were Laine's Ripper & Source, Rodie All Night IPA, Siren Calypso, Loud Shirt Insomnia & Abyss Superfuzz. There was no real cider. Not bad on the beer front. | Pleasant enough environment, that we visited based on its reputation for BBQ food. Beer selection and price were fine, service good, and quality ok. The pub has a little of something for everyone with TVs at one end showing Italian football adjacent to some pool tables, whilst at the other end a live band was striking up with enough different little pockets to sit in between to ensure a favourable environment for almost any tastes. The downsides were oddly the food and music, The BBQ Chicken and Ribs combo featured some very well cooked chicken with some slightly too tough ribs both covered in a not so much the "smokey BBQ sauce" described as literally the taste of smoke and nothing else and it wasn't even a pleasant mesquite style smoke taste. I always support any place that makes the effort to put on live bands that play original material, but sometimes (like Saturday evening) this makes me question my own sanity as we were subjected to some funk-free funky jazz noodlings with some quasi-rapping in a Cockney accent over the top that was devoid of hooks, melody or anything worth saying. | Not exactly sure what this place is trying to achieve in terms of it's offering. Is it a student bar, cheap eatery, cool hangout, nasty sports bar or working men's club? It seems to be trying to be all of these things and falling short on all counts. Plus, on my most recent visit I was served by someone who told me he was the manager.
