This one of my favourites, it overlooks the estuary at Appledore and is great for a pint in the evening. Has hand-pulled local ales, Food is very good as well. And it's dog friendly! hartland - 3 Jun 2015 12:23 |
Didn't visit before the refurb so can't say what it was like before but it is certainly a smart looking place now. It has a fairly upmarket feel to the place with prices to match! It is of course still in a great location in Appledore with a decent beer garden out the front to watch the world go by. 8/10 montie49 - 26 May 2013 14:06 |
Now under new ownership. All music gigs cancelled - even Halloween, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Rumour is that it will close sometime during winter for refurbishment and re-open as hotel/restaurant with NO ENTERTAINMENT. Alehouse - 17 Oct 2012 16:46 |
Regular Monday night music session and regular & Friday local musicians get-together with guests no longer take place. Very disappointed not to be able to play as usual. It used to be a big part of my holiday. Fridays now have guest bands and people are no longer encouraged to join in. No longer a fun place to visit, with a different crowd inhabiting the place and no sign of any decent management or service. Alehouse - 10 Jul 2012 12:43 |
Great folk band on last Monday night and well kept local ales too. Very busy with pilotgig (rowing of wooden boats by teams of 5 or more) contest on as well as Morris dancers on another evening. Staff were helpful and friendly. ladybeerdrinker - 21 Aug 2011 17:39 |
