Still a traditional pub with a decent choice of cask ales; opens later than other pubs in the area. I hear it has changed hands recently and hope it carries on as good as it has been! ale_x - 8 Jul 2023 22:38 |
Excellent, traditional pub with long bar and wooden panneling. 5 cask ales and a cask cider. The Moose Abuse Juice I tried was excellent. Friendly barman. Well worth a visit - I will be back! alexw - 4 Oct 2016 22:39 |
Superb pub with friendly welcome and helpful bar staff. The ale - White Rat, on my visit - was in tip-top condition. The sandwiches, served with real chips, are filling and tasty. Definitely a 10/10 and a must visit. wobblybob - 3 Aug 2016 23:04 |
A new landlord with great enthusiasm for the place and its history . Definitely pulled its socks up up over the last year or so . Clean , refreshed and getting popular with all ages . Good circuit pub at weekend as are all in that area but with a sensible weekday crowd . A small but tasty menu and looking at expanding to the current underused function room upstairs . Great selection of real ales and the usual lagers for the boys! Pipers crisps , pickled eggs , DVD playing of old pubs of Hull ( available to buy), covered smoking area in the old courtyard , also getting a makeover , what more do you need . Oh yes nice new toilets !!..... Original bench seating along the back wall with stools facing . And my partner particularly noticed that ALL the bulbs in the chandeliers work every time we go in !!. And check out the smallest window , always popular and what makes the bar famous!! danielsreef - 17 Apr 2016 16:41 |
The current landlord seems to be running the pub down. Maybe he is leaving. Went in on the weekend ripped seat where i sat so shuffled around. Gone was the London Pride i use to drink here so got a pint of Clarks bitter. Not impressed. Its a top end of the market price wise but dissapointed on my last visit westminster - 7 Jan 2013 15:15 |
