Last night my work colleagues and me were having drinks in their terrace when a group of bouncers came in and told us to go saying one of us had brought booze from outside, which I didn't see. Once outside, one of my colleagues wanted to recuperate his bag he had left inside, so I said I was going to go to find it thinking I am a very diplomatic person I could get it and leave. When I explained that to the bouncer at the door, he was good with that and let me in. However, when I tried to explain it to the old blond bouncer inside she started to be rude to me and told me to speak in English to her. As you can see, I can write and read in English perfectly well and I don't think they should be making this rude racist comments to clients at all. I would recommend the pub's management to reconsider hiring these bouncers again. I don't think they need them. aperez - 12 Dec 2015 16:57 |
This really is the best pub in Hoxton. It's great in winter for a fire-side Guinness or mulled wine and has a wonderful roof terrace when the sun comes out. Great music, friendly staff and best of all they have just got a real ale in! (Brains SA). Highly recommended! Marwood - 28 Mar 2012 13:33 |
This pub is drap and completely lacking in atmosphere, added to which there's no real ale. No compelling reason to return. Oasthouse - 11 Feb 2011 23:52 |
A hidden gem just off the main Shoreditch/Hoxton beaten path this a pub with an intimate atmosphere, great music (everything from 80s electronica to free form jazz), good food and a friendly crowd. Marwood - 9 Mar 2010 16:07 |
No real ale, just a small selection of mediocre keg beers such as John Smith Extra Smooth, Guinness and Kronenbourg. The bar counter is tiny and on a Friday night it is four or five deep at times. Getting served is therefore not a pleasant experience. And it's plastic glasses all round!! The crowd is typical of Shoreditch, trendy and pretentious, but the rooftop terrace is nice enough despite being packed out up there on a warm Friday evening in summer. This place would be ok if you're single and want to mingle, or if you don't care what you throw down your neck, but if you're looking for a place for a proper drink, with proper beer and a proper pub feel, you should avoid this place. gatomalo - 13 Aug 2009 10:45 |
