There is currently a board outside advertising the pub to let. It still appears to be open. JonNgog - 1 Dec 2019 12:00 |
Back in Billinge and following a visit to the Bispham Hall Recreation Club (not listed on here), my final pub in the town was the Hare & Hounds. I had to leave this until last as it doesn't open until 4pm on weekdays (2pm at weekends). There are two rooms. The one on the left as you enter from the street was the slightly larger of the two. The central bar serves both rooms. 3 ales were Wainwright, Bombardier & White Witch. The landlady was chatty and she was interested to know what I was doing in the area! They probably don't get too many strangers though. Nice pub. But, a shame that the demand for real ale is not better. blue_scrumpy - 8 Feb 2019 21:45 |
A rural wet-led community pub, feels like your gran's living room inside. Cosy but very unfashionable. Always good beer and conversation though. JonNgog - 12 Jan 2018 12:34 |
Reopened Sept 2010 as freehouse by Nick du Toit ex Wigan Rugby forward. Four handpulls of real ale, Thwaites Wainwright, One Prospect and two rotating guests all extremely well kept. Wigan CAMRA Locale award, best new cask outlet and Autumn 2011 Pub of the Season. Friendly locals pub. Music night every Thursday and Saturday and some Fridays. AlRobis - 10 Jan 2012 23:38 |
