Good food and beer and exceptionally good value for money. Slightly hidden away, not many people know about this traditional pub, which caters mainly for the 40+ set. TheGuiltyOne - 26 Jan 2011 14:16 |
A nice local Thwaites pub with 3 cask ales. However we made the mistake of visiting on the only evening (Monday) they don't serve food so had a partially wasted journey - and this wasn't advertised anywhere until you asked at the bar! alexw - 14 Nov 2009 06:54 |
Thwaites pub in Ringley that has the feel of a village local even though it's in something of an urban sprawl. In fact the whole village has a cut-off feel which works in its favour. It's certainly a stretch to call it Manchester-it's closer to Bolton- but the Royal Mail have never been very good at these kind of things. It's well located in front of the historic packhorse bridge over the River Irwell and next to the clock tower, an interesting folly. Inside there's separate drinking areas and a restaurant room at the back. Nice atmosphere inside, with brass fittings and old fittings etc, and the food looked good and reasonably priced Thwaites bitter and Blonde and Lancaster Bomber available, very nice. It's out of the way and easy to miss, but handy for walks in Clifton Country Park. Not a bad pub at all. Carlurmston - 8 Jun 2009 13:51 |
