Expensive, typical rural gastropub, but it does retain a nice cosy bar area (would be very cramped if it gets busy though). Beer garden is done nicely but too close to the road to be particularly peaceful. Still, pleasant enough pub. JonNgog - 12 Jan 2018 12:27 |
I made a return visit to this pub on Sunday. It has now re-opened. Whilst primarily a gastropub now, there are still 3 rooms, one main dining area and two smaller bars. I sat in the front bar and enjoyed a pack of black pudding flavour pork scratchings. Ales were Greene King Abbot, Black Sheep Best Bitter & Weetwood Cheshire Cat. There were plenty of staff. I'm now able to update my rating. Nice rural location overlooking fields, assuming you don't get off an hourly bus to find it closed! blue_scrumpy - 7 Jan 2016 21:23 |
Took the trip out on the bus here yesterday only to find it closed. Unfortunately the buses are only once an hour and Crank isn't the most happening of places to entertain yourself for an hour. So 0/10 for this attempt. blue_scrumpy - 2 Nov 2015 17:22 |
The pub itself is rather nice, however the landlord is just a bit odd, the Rad Cat serves decent meals but the Landlord does all he can to spoil the ambience of the place and it makes you feel like your eating school dinners the way in which the dining area is laid out. Not sure if this guy owns the pub, hopefully he doesn't and the brewery can get someone else in because this could be so much more in the right hands. Aristocracy - 11 Sep 2010 09:03 |
Im a Care Assistant in Rainford and during the snow and ice on the roads this week i parked my scooter in the Red Cat car park for 30mins to finish my calls on foot, only to be met be petty abuse by the landlord ..even after id explained why i had parked there, So much for community spirit during christmas, maybe the landlord thinks feeding and medicating the sick and elderly people of rainford isnt worth 2 foot of space in is car park for 30mins rainmakermwo - 20 Dec 2009 23:50 |
