Looks nice and the staff are friendly. Beer is good although a premium bitter would have been appreciated. As for the food - the menu talks the talk but the chef don't walk the walk. My chops were tasty enough but for 'garlic butter' read 'swimming in fat'. My wife's veg lasagne was a few sad veggies under a half inch layer of semi melted cheese which flopped on to the plate like the aftermath of a failed liposuction op. Could do soooo much better. Mostly a popular restaurant with B&B, there is a small drinking area with sofas beside the bar, the other end of the room is set for dining as is the larger second room. Black Sheep Bitter from the new light up pump which is mainly well kept and often a guest beer is available. The food is generally homely, well prepared and reasonably priced. Decorated with old farming implements and farming, livestock and beauty spot pictures plus some local art for sale. Probably not the best place for a casual drink. anonymous - 13 Jun 2009 12:42 |
