I visited today after a few years absence and was pleased to see that this is still a good quality pub. The meal I had and the cask ale I drunk were very good and the service was both pleasant and polite. Give it a go... RedRoosterRocker - 18 Nov 2011 00:29 |
My wife and I stumbled across this little gem of a pub about 18 months ago and have been regulars ever since. The management and staff are very welcoming and friendly, and are always eager to please and accommodate. The food is absolutely brilliant and terrific value. I have never seen the landlady have a drink , she's usually too busy "cheffing" in the busy kitchen !! I can thoroughly recommend this family run pub without reservation. Give it a try !! champion1970 - 21 Sep 2011 15:43 |
Have been here three times on business from Colchester. The only reason why this pub is probably in the good beer guide is for it's food, it's extremely good grub, good menu and not to bad drinks wise. Which is let down by the bar staff that haven't got a clue what their doing I've always had food and a soft drink. All the landlady seems to do is drink while customers wait to be served by bar staff who couldn't serve in a game of tennis! Thisisreviews - 11 Sep 2011 20:08 |
Have recently unearthed this little gem of a pub. They have on offer a reasonable range of about 4 real ales that appear to change with regularity, in addition to the odd rare proper European lager. On last visit they had a cracking little beer festival for St.Georges day weekend going on in the back garden. The real bonus to this pub is the food, it's good hearty pub fayre and at a good price. It tastes good and satiates any hunger without breaking the bank. Hooray well done, a rarity these days. Of note is the deal that my father has rejoiced in which is an over 50's deal in the week that allows something like 2 courses for 5 or something of equally astonishingly good value. Definitely better than the chain Chef and Brewer down the road. This is a nice friendly village pub, with good beer, good food and at a good price. Definitely deserves higher ratings on here! hatter90 - 8 May 2011 18:48 |
How this pub is in the good beer guide i will never understand. Landlady and bar staff are awful and the ale not much better! With so many other pubs around dont bother with this one! 47458sf - 15 Jun 2009 15:37 |
