A frequent visitor to this area I went to this pub tonight. The wine and beer were excellent and the four main meals were promptly prepared. The additional vegetables were fresh and inspirational. Come on you locals please support your delightful pub. It has a lovely eating area with soft background music. It's all up to you. nzwinedrinker - 2 May 2012 22:33 |
This pub has recently reopened once again after yet another closure. Ever the optimists we popped in in the hope of better things. No atmosphere, no outstanding beers, not many customers. It's hard to believe that this village pub used to be one of the most successful in the county. Maybe the new landlord should look at what worked so well for years. Still it's much better without Mrs Mussolini !!! steamraiser2 - 9 Oct 2011 22:10 |
I concur with SlartyBartFast. The land-lady is overbearing and not generally welcoming. Yes the pub has benefitted from a refurbishment, and some of the staff are friendly enough, but heaven-help any one who has the audacity to bring a child into the pub or worse still, ask to set up a bar-tab secured against a credit card. The food was passible, but I suspect I will follow many of the locals and start drinking elsewhere. The previous land-lady may have let things slip a little, but she certainly knew how to serve up a first-class carvery. Come back Kay all is forgiven - we miss you :-). This recently refurbished pub has clearly been rescued from impending closure and is busier than it has been for years. Thats good. What is'nt is the lousy choice of beers. Ringwood Best is an "if all else fails" beer for many people and is generally the only option here. I bet I'm not the only local who passes by as a result. steamraiser2 - 29 Dec 2009 14:12 |
