This is a proper pub, you can have a beer if you wish and you can dine if you wish. What I am saying is that it is not a pub dedicated to food as are so many, the food is good the beer is good what more can you ask. One thing is certain, local or visitor you will feel welcome at the Twa Dogs. Rebus - 11 Sep 2010 16:45 |
On the outskirts of the town centre this pub was built in 1966 to replace the original building. It looks out of place in such a nice town as Keswick because it is reminiscent of a 60's/70's council estate pub but slightly posher. Inside it is fairly open planned. Quirky caricatures of what I assume are locals on many of the walls along with other local atrifacts. Faux wooden beams try to disguise the age of the building. There is a games room with a pool table, dart board & football shirts & scarves. Beer wise very poor. 1 real ale - Jennings Bitter which is weak & watery. Landlord was friendly but it wasn't worth the trek out of town on a cold night. happytyskie - 6 Feb 2010 20:38 |
Call in this pub on a regular basis whilst staying in keswick. Welcoming staff who welcome children. Ales always good along with ok food. tomturbo - 20 Oct 2009 14:41 |
This is a reasonably pleasant pub on the main road into Keswick from the east. From memory it's tied to Jennings and did a nice pint of Sneck Lifter. Being on the outskirts the pub is roomier and less busy than most of those in town, but an awkward one to tie into a pub crawl. On my visit I'd walked from Glenridding via Helvellyn so had quite a thirst on! pubcollector - 30 Mar 2009 23:42 |
