I found this pub boarded up today. Local paper says it closed virtually without warning at the end of February. Wetherspoons have sold it and it's apparently going to become a Nando's. A great pity - it was the last pub left in Stanmore.

Visited here to-day for the first time in about 6 years. Rather on the small side for a JDW pub but even so it was a rather enjoyable experience. It's in the CAMRA 2010 guide but they only had 3 'guest' beers available. This actually became 2 as the 'Old Growler' was well past its sell-by-date.

Very pleasant staff and quite quick service particularly the food. Wouls definitely visit again.

Typical Wetherspoons located on a suburban parade of shops. There's not much to differentiate this from the standard 'spoons pub. There are the usual pictures of the local area in the booths, a couple of fruit machines and at present the place is decked out in flags in readiness for the World Cup. As usual, the bar presents a good array of beers Greene King Abbot Ale, Ruddles Best, Rebellion Green Shoots, Phoenix Double Gold, Caledonian Flying Dutchman and Hilden Gael Rua Irish Red. However, as with most Wetherspoons, you can never trust that what you see is what you'll get. When asking for the Weston's Marcle Hill cider, which was proudly displayed at the far end of the pumpclips, the barmaid revealed they didn't have any. Why do Wetherspoons insist on promoting drinks that they don't have?

Surprisingly nice pub. Ale was excellent and there was a bird playing classical music on a violin when i was in !! Not an everyday event i suspect but nice to see.

A well kept and attractive Wetherspoons outlet with a decent selection of real ales. The pint of Duchy Originals Organic I ordered was clearly off and was replaced without question and with an apology with the pump clip being immediately turned around. Knowledgeable staff with a good customer focus. Bit of a dreary frontage and not a great deal of natural light inside.
