The best of the posher food pubs in the area - consistently high standards. Also a very nice interior.

Food good - service at best surly, at worst downright rude. Won't be returning after a disappointing birthday lunch.

Never heard a bad word said about this place. Excellent food and decent beer too.

Couldn't fault the exceptional Sunday lunch we enjoyed today. Fresh, good quality
ingredients & friendly, efficient service. Our mussels & roast beef from
the fixed menu were first class, as were the lemon meringue pie & home-made
ices. A quick glance at fellow customers revealed a similar level of satisfaction.

On arrival our request not to be seated next to the roaring log-fire (on the first really warm Spring day) was swiftly granted & we were moved to a larger table,
while at the end of the meal our host dealt solicitously over a broken wine-glass. Difficult to reconcile this level of attention with the comments made by the unfortunate wedding party. Anyone can have an off-day, I suppose.....

Serves Excellent Ales and top quality food, with great fire in winter time and outside eating for those summer eavening.

Just as good as the Tite Inn at Chadlington even though it's just been voted North Oxon CAMRA Pub of the Year, judges obviously missed the royal oak
