Now being run by Sue again (landlady from 2003-2011), we went last Saturday because they had live music (the band was called "Blind Alley") and a BBQ in the large beer garden. Table service only - the Wye Valley HPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord were both pretty good and we had a great evening. paul_d102 - 26 Sep 2020 16:48 |
I tried the Ringwood Best this year which was OK but nothing special. Greene King IPA and Golden Hen were also available so I felt the choices available had deteriorated from our last visit. Ad-hoc dancing and singing started in the back lounge which one local explained was due to Kington being "The Wild West" but it didn't bother us. The restaurant is now Jake's Bistro (which seems to move around the pubs of Kington every few years). Worth a visit but not our favourite. paul_d102 - 21 Sep 2014 19:33 |
Pretty decent pub on the hill as you leave the town centre heading for Wales. Not a lot to say, seems like somewhere you could have a few pints and a meal or meet up with mates. Friendly landlord. Opens lunchtimes and evenings. dpaajones - 16 Nov 2013 14:46 |
With dining options somewhat limited in Kington, we chose to eat here last night and were glad we did. Enjoyed a superb homemade (including the pastry) pie for £9.25 washed down by Wye Valley HPA which was very good but not quite as good as some truly excellent offerings elsewhere. Doom Bar and Ringwood Best were also available. Because there was nobody in the restaurant, we ate in the bar where the very friendly locals (which was typical of Kington) and Casey the manager kept us amused! paul_d102 - 22 Sep 2013 17:33 |
Called here only to find it was shut, however went back later in the evening, did find the pub nice and warm. Had a pint of lager, was going to order something to eat but didn't feel very comfortable. Might try it again later in the year when I come back to Kington when the new landlord has had chance to settle in dave178 - 18 Jan 2012 22:12 |
