the freemasons is a small, stone fronted pub by the wier in hillsborough town centre. To the side, it has a small outdoor seating area overlooking the river, and no car park. *** Inside is open plan with one large room. There is a make-shift disco setup for evenings, with large speakers & disco lighting. Visited one lunchtime last week. There were about 4 customers in. The place looked bare and run down. The tables and carpet were uncleaned, and the seats were heavily drink-stained. cctv was installed and numerous theft disclaimer signs were displayed. The toilets were stinking, with a broken toilet bowl. appears to be geared toward catering for disco-pubbers. *** No meals. No cask ales. The barmaid didn't know what "cask" ales were. Keg beers & lagers were on. J.smiths at 1.85. *** verdict: I looked further for some good points. couldn't think of any. I've tried to be objective about this, but sorry to say its my first score of zero for a review. for me, there are other much better bars nearby. reynard - 6 Oct 2008 16:59 |
