Popped in for a quickie yesterday while waiting for a bus. Seems to have increased the number of pumps - I counted 8 - but they were serving at least 2 of the beers on gravity! Strange. 4 beers on offer - the Exmoor that I had on gravity was fine although a little warm. Staff seemed rather disorganised - I asked about opening time on a Saturday and was told "sometime between 1130 and 1200 when someone turns up". Helpful - not! cheshirecat - 23 Aug 2015 09:13 |
A to let sign outside again yesterday. A month ago when i visited it was 11am opening - now noon! Not a good sign! cheshirecat - 25 Aug 2013 11:46 |
Not too sure about what they've tried to do in here with the interior, but it serves a good pint and the barman was friendly - so as we just called in here on spec on a rainy day whilst in the area it was a nice find. littledrummerboy - 22 Jun 2012 10:52 |
Excelllent food and atmosphere in the evening, leaflet claiming a good place for coffee in the mornings, but disappointing when tried this. When asked for the advertised cakes the barman wielded a handful of prepackaged flapjacks and the like . The same items might have tempted if arranged attractively on a plate with a doiley - perhaps they are missing a trick! Several groups of ladies arrived after we got there, so this must be a worthwhile market to cultivate. All the chairs were hard, a couple of sofas in cosy corners with a coffee table would be really nice.Appreciate they have only just reopened so look forward to improvements! pianist1 - 7 Dec 2011 13:47 |
Cotleigh Tawny and Barn Owl were on when I visited yesterday. Apparently there was an official reopening night on Friday 26th, so someone else is having a go. During my brief stop some locals were in conversation with the chef/proprietor and complimenting him on the general ambience, the pub in general and the meal they had recently enjoyed. One thing I learned whilst there is that they have a gin (48%) which is made from apples. Blimey! Makes a good pink gin though. The_Heavy_Fandango - 30 Aug 2011 13:13 |
