Modern minimalist decor. Very decent pint of Guinness. Well worth a visit. TREFONEN - 31 Jan 2016 23:04 |
Large pub in the shadow of the impressive St. Wilfred's church. It was done up a few years ago and now has a modern feel with leather furnishings and a patterned stone floor. It was a bit run-down before, but at least served real ale and had some character. Now a solitary handpump lies unused. The layout has remained the same, with one large area in a rough horseshoe shape around the bar, with a pool table in one corner. The beer garden is large and impressive. Foody and smart, it doesn't appeal to me too much at the moment ,but there are worse places and if they could get the real ale back on I'd be more inclined to revisit. This is a totally different pub since it was closed and totally rebuilt inside. The best thing is the food that is reasonably priced with fair size portions, especially with the offers at non peak periods. The staff are friendly and it is no longer a cliquey place with miserable landlord that it was for many years. Not much choice on draught beers and no cask unfortunately. Definately the place in central standish to go for an informal meal with a pint. freddy12 - 5 Jan 2010 20:20 |
