Nice pub just ridiculously expensive - drink and food. 2 half pints of coke and a bloody mary was 11.50. You have to be drunk to start thinking those prices are ok. IAmTheTruth - 8 Apr 2011 10:28 |
i had the smallest meal I've ever had. i was so gobsmacked when it arrived i though it was a small starter til i remembered no-one was having a starter! I had the one vegetarian option and it was lieteraly about 4 mouthfulls. why didn;t i complain at the time? our son had booked, it was v busy, and i didn;t want to spoil the evening. it was beatifully tasty BUT. i never have a started or a pud when i go out, but i was still hungry so had to have a pudding scilla - 14 Feb 2010 19:58 |
I'm going to be generous and give the Abbeville a 4 out of ten. As chain pubs go, this isn't as bad as the average All Bar One. But I think the service is very very ropey. This Saturday one of the barmaids spilt beer all over my mate's back and didn't apologise and one of us actually had to tell the latino barman off for being so unpleasant to us. They don't sell non-alcoholic beer either, so if you're off the sauce (which I am) your options are limitted. If you're in the area, I recommend walking up Narbonne Avenue to FireFly, where the staff are, at least, Happy to see you. hs97jhs - 20 Apr 2009 12:53 |
I went to The Abbeville with a group for a friends birthday lunch and was extremely impressed. The waitress was friendly and returned after every course to check how the food was. The sausages and mash, steak and burgers were amazing although the lamb shank appeared to be mutton rather then lamb. For dessert the group either had the brownie and the banoffie pie - both were delicious. The wine menu was great with a large selection of both white and red from around the world. My friends and I would highly recommend this pub for a relaxing lunch with friends. ljones00 - 6 May 2008 17:26 |
Great food (although a little expensive) and great beer. The South African chap behind the bar is superb - friendly, and incredibly efficient. The Tim Taylor Landlord is to die for... Therealdickie - 3 Jan 2008 17:31 |
