The Hanwell Arms is a modern Marstons pub on a new-build housing estate and next to a retail development. I visited on a Tuesday evening and there were a few people in after work, some ordering dinner. The pub is a fairly bland open-plan affair. The table I was sat didn't seem as if it had been cleaned for a while. Burton Bitter & Pedigree were the ales. I didn't bother with either. Loud music playing in the toilets, which were at least clean. blue_scrumpy - 8 Apr 2016 19:35 |
This once was a good pub, had everything going for it used it most weekends. I know things change and some times not for the best, well this is one of those times the pub has died the class of customer, the food and the beer have gone totally down hill. Will not be returning to the pub untill it improves greatly. The toilets are in a very poor state as well. Beerman01 - 19 Dec 2012 20:38 |
An estate pub, but a good one. Good beer (Marstons and at least one guest), good food, and very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is not much more that you'd expect from an estate pub, but I've seen far worse examples of such pubs. RobertBley - 2 Oct 2012 22:50 |
We rang Friday 30th Dec to see if we could book lunch for four adults and two children on New Years Eve the next day knowing that they would possibly be busy organising for New Year celebrations in the evening. Not a problem for them or their staff. Manager was very helpful on the phone. Chips were nice and crispy on our visit and staff were very pleasant and helpful to our party. Good menu of Pub Food and even with a drinks for everyone the bill was very reasonable. Chris_P_Duck - 2 Jan 2012 14:15 |
My last visit was not so successful, The chips were soggy and the food wasn't that great. I found the staff very nice and pleasant and always very helpful. I have used this pub a few times and the food can differ, I think it depends what chef is on duty at the time. But, 100% better that The Barley Mow, which I have written a review on. It is worth a visit, they have a few real ales on which makes a change, and it's a lot cleaner than the Banbury tip called "The Barley Mow" Trustme - 14 Apr 2009 13:44 |
