Another Kendal pub closed - apparently to be converted for residential use like so many others. Stamfordian - 8 Aug 2015 00:10 |
Went in here a few weeks back just because I happened to be coming back from K Village. Thought I would nip in. The Hawkshead bitter was excellent, best I've tasted; right temperature and clear as a bell and decent price. Made the mistake though, of ordering a Landlord next. Oh dear! In comparison it was awful. I can't believe that it was the (pub) landlord's fault though as the Hawkshead was top notch. killip_ian - 10 Jun 2011 11:38 |
this might be a great pub - i wouldn't know. walked in on saturday to ask if they were doing food. was told no as there'd been an emergency. that's fine, but when i asked if there was anywhere else nearby they'd recommend i was bluntly and rather unhelpfully told - i never make recommendations. Wow. thanks. Also was made to feel rather self-concious the way every head swivelled to stare at you as you walked through the doors. First impressions count. Kendal has plenty of pubs. Will not bother going back to this one. feedthedude - 26 Oct 2010 15:52 |
The Sheaf now has very well kept Hawkshead Bitter on now as well as the mediocre Taylors Landlord. The food is still very good as usuall. sootythebeerbear - 28 May 2010 21:38 |
Have to echo what both sooty and MINTY say about this pub. Very friendly, clean pub with pretty good food. Trade seems to tick over quite nicely but the only thing stopping me from calling in more often is that the beer choice of Timmy Taylors Landlord or Timmy Taylors Landlord is not that inspiring. While you can get decent pints of this beer miles from the brewery the ale here is usually mediocre at best. With the Hawkshead brewery just up the road and the Lancaster brewery just down the road, both producing great beer, it's a shame none of it is on sale here. A golden opportunity waiting to happen.
