Visited this pub for Sunday Lunch from Birmingham. Arrived at the pub, which was very nice (outside and in) and had very friendly, welcoming staff. We sat in the main bar and made our choices from the 2 courses on the Sunday Menu. The starter of breaded mushrooms was very basic and nothing to write home about but mostly we were very disappointed with our mains. I had Roast Beef and my partner has Roast Pork. The meats were cooked well but we were shocked at the quantity and quality - 1 new potato & 1 roast potato and plus veg of 1 cauliflower with a handful of peas and carrots. There was no taste to anything apart from the meat and we were both starving after finishing. We finished with a dessert from the board of profiteroles, again nothing to write home about. Luckily, we were visiting the pub through a voucher deal and got it very cheap. Otherwise, we would not have been happy to pay full price for what we got! Not likely to visit there again as you don't expect to have to buy something else to eat on the way home from 'lunch out'. CGDB - 10 Apr 2012 12:17 |
Went here for dinner - most disappointing - poor food, overcooked and very rude service from the lady owner whose attitude, when we dared complain, was not shy in showing her contempt! Steaks overcooked (apparently medium steaks should be brown all the way through without any pink showing as that's how they cook them), undercooked (albeit home-made) chips. Average food though, but the attitude has ensured we will never visit again. SelkieGirl - 24 Feb 2012 14:41 |
This is the third year I have eaten at this pub I can not fault the previoustimes but this time unfortunately is a different story. Very slow service we waited over 40mins before we had any food, the main meal was very small enough for a child not an adult. One meal was sent back due to the salmon being raw in the middle, the roast potatoes(frozen) could not be cut too hard on majority of plates. When the bill arrived all meals were on there, no discount for the one sent back. When we questioned why this was the staff/chef got very nasty/abusive threatened to lock us in and to call the police until we paid in full. There was a mention of some reduction off the bill but this was too late as the chef escorted us off the premises. I do not feel this was acceptable behaviour. I hope the owners/staff are new because this was such a lovely place to go for a meal. This is why I have rated the pub so low and will not return there again. rawsalmon - 31 Dec 2009 12:11 |
