Refurbished recently, but doesn't seemed to have changed much inside. Not a bad pub but something just not right about it. Could be the seating layout or the fact that the beer choice is very limited. Just Banks' bitter (pish) and the one guest ale which seems to be indifferently kept. Gets through more than it's fair share of landlords (on the market again as I write this) which is a shame. Could be a really nice local pub. As it is I'd rather hike up the hill to The Wyche or The Chase for a drink. Ivan_Dobski - 15 Nov 2011 11:19 |
My wife and I went to this pup for lunch to celebrate my birthday. We found everything clean and tidy. We were greeted with a cheerful greeting. The food was well done served piping hot and very good. I recomend the homemade chips. DerekEna - 10 Jun 2010 18:05 |
The comments I have seen are all out of date. It has been under new management for a couple of months now. Friendly welcome and very good food. rich127 - 23 Feb 2010 10:04 |
I have been to this pub twice, and the reason I went the second time was because I was fairly drunk from drinking in other pubs nearby. The first time I went, the Hobgoblin had run out, and the only beer there was Banks', which I rarely enjoy. There was hair in the beer, which I presumed came from the barmaid, who was herself drunk, while chatting to the only other customer. The pub smelt bad, felt bad and myself and my friend wasted no time in downing the pint and leaving. tom202 - 20 Jul 2009 00:15 |
Manager very rude - spent most of the night talking loudly on the mobile phone, sprawled over a couple of chairs, on an otherwise quite Sunday evening - Beer was not in good condition! Shame as nearest pub to my girlfriend, but wont be back ;-( garwalters - 17 Mar 2009 19:49 |
