Staff are polite, friendly and genuine, had meal with my family and a few pints of spitfire, it was excellent and decent value for money, always best to book and in the summer the garden is fantastic too, one of my favorite pubs. villastu - 7 Apr 2012 20:24 |
I like this place, the garden is large and airy, staff are polite but not in your face, good to relax. I'm not bothered about CAMRA or anything like that as I'm not overly pretentious so it fits the bill, is good value and is a nice place to eat/drink. Only complain is it attracts lots of tourists in summer. Ebels - 27 Aug 2010 15:54 |
Shepherd Neame pub that is more a restaurant than a pub. All tables were set for diners. But the rural location is good and the range of beers, despite all being from Shepherd Neame, was good - Master Brew, Spitfire, Late Red and Kent's Best. It's a shame that the emphasis is on dining. blue_scrumpy - 26 Apr 2010 20:26 |
An excellent country pub - sometimes a bit quiet during the week (so first ring to check for opening times), but usually very full of drinkers and diners at the weekend. Usually has the Shepherd Neame seasonal beer in addition to the regular MasterBrew and Spitfire and a fourth handpump with something else like Canterbury Jack or Bishops Finger. Never had a bad pint here - recommended. rpadam - 26 Apr 2009 18:33 |
A very attractive pub on the Yalding-Horsmonden road. Done up a few years back, but not spoilt. The bigger bar (on your right as you go in) is mainly food orientated, but they've maintained a nice traditional feel in the other, smaller bar. I've been in a couple of times over the last few months.I'm not a great fan of Sheps' beer, but it's been in respectable condition on both occasions. The food's quite good, too, but let down when we ate there by rather haphazard service, which was a pity. Not top of my list, but I wouldn't put anyone off trying it. earlydrinker - 12 Oct 2008 14:44 |
