Now under new ownership. This is a much improved place with the emphasis more on decent food. Gets very busy and is much less chavvy. smudgethewudge - 31 Mar 2016 10:02 |
Used to use this pub a lot when I lived in Uckfield and was looking forward to visiting it again. Sadly it was ruined by people who like to yell and screech instead of talk, and it being a nice evening, the tables outside had their fair share of them too. Adlittedly it was quite busy, so they must be doing something right, but the average age of the customers appeared to be under 25. I can cope with that, but shrieking and bellowing is where I draw the line. Revving your modified Golf in the car park and demonstrating the decibel level of you sub woofer might be your idea of a nice evening out, but it alienates people who only wanted some food, a few beers and a chat with friends. justforthehellofit - 23 Jul 2010 18:08 |
We (and friends) found that this place was a little lacking in character as it was very large. However, we found the food (standard pub food) to be of a good standard. However, we found that the clientele (locals in there no doubt late teens/early twentys) to be rather rowdy when stood outside smoking and drinking. Given the location and scarcity of pubs serving good food in the town this place could be exzceptional (and busy), though it is let down by the lack of atmosphere and rowdiness. gelksy - 30 May 2008 14:38 |
