A food pub, not much atmosphere for the drinker, but stools at the bar. Staff friendly and the food is good. Ginger_Beard - 11 Mar 2012 19:49 |
We visited this pub on a Monday evening after being recommended by a friend. The pub was quite busy with a good atmosphere. A nice fire at the end of the bar and a very polite lady serving. The menu provided an excellent choice, (I went for the stuffed fillet steak). WOW, all three courses superb, fresh food and nice wine, makes a change from the usual choice. This pub is well worth the visit. damienj - 15 Feb 2012 18:18 |
Stopped off here on our way home from Stonehenge. Great Sunday roast with three kinds of meat and top pudding. wiltsfoodie - 9 Mar 2011 19:58 |
Well I don't know if the Crown Inn has changed hands since the previous reviews or maybe the B-team were on duty last night, put simply this place was terrible. The "Sunday menu" was excatly the same as the chefs specials but priced slightly differently and included a chicken korma with rice and prawn crackers, when ordering the staff had no idea what was on these menus. Two starters came promptly and the other two came 10 minutes later, we were the only diners at this time! Main courses were edible and thats all I can say other than they didn't seem to be freshly cooked more like reheated. Waited 10 minutes for plates to be cleared then no desert menu or coffee offered to us, went to the bar to pay and checked the prices against the two menus to be told by barmaid "you can pay the higher price if you want" If we hadn't been celebrating a Birthday and wanted to have a hassle free night i would have argued and walked without paying! PS this was just the tip of the iceberg. eatwell808 - 12 Oct 2009 13:44 |
The Crown Inn has become one of Wiltshires hidden gems. The Landlord and staff have turned this establishment into a great place to eat and relax. It is without doubt an asset to the village and is maintained to the highest standard. The menu is varied, the wine list delightful and the quality and value difficult to fault. Oh and the food! just lovely - and it is presented with fair and attention to detail. Well done. rangerover - 12 Jun 2009 18:31 |
