Has passed through a few changes of management & is now in the vary capable hands of Richard & Mel who are making a really good job of it. Beer, food, welcome & service are all excellent. The bar staff are also the best looking in Radcliffe :-) The_Pom - 16 Aug 2015 17:12 |
Excellent pub and the food looked and smelt great. Lovely wood panelling and the Library area had a nice fire. Batemans XB was good on the night and there was a good range of real ales on too. Well worth a visit. Deb1 - 7 Dec 2010 20:46 |
The first thing that hit me when i walked in was how posh the interior was - Chandeliers, leather armchairs and wooden floors. I'm not local so we headed here after hearing good reviews. To be honest though, i won't be rushing back. The beer i had was good, but not great. The barmaid was rather rude too. jarofporter - 25 Jun 2010 15:41 |
I visited this pub on a friday night in the summer, and again on a Sunday evening a few weeks ago. It's more posh that the other pubs in the village, very clean and shiny with couple eating and groups in their 30s and 40s drinking. Not a place for footie shirts and lager louts... The beer was great, three or four ales, some local (Everads form Leicester and Castle Rock from Nottingham). The food was equally great. I had a bacon burger, there was plenty off it. Pretty much the only pub I visit regularly in Radcliffe, although the Black Lion is OK. mooseo - 25 Nov 2009 12:51 |
Good place serving an excellent range of beer. It's owned by the same people who own 'The Horse and Plough' at Bingham and keeps a very similar style. Emphasis is on real-ale and serves around 5 rotating guest ales in addition to the three regular ones. Decor is rather upmarket and does kind of feel like an upmarket city bar inside, but the customers are usually friendly and the seating is comfortable. They do sell food but I've never had a meal here. All in all, a must-try for anybody serious about ale. siddo - 16 Aug 2009 01:16 |
