Has been quite a few years since I have been in the Red Lion at Stockton Heath, so thought I would take another look while in the area recently. Looks like it has been done up recently, smart inside with a fairly open feel but still separate rooms. I had a half of Nutty Black by Thwaites at £1.83 which seemed a touch on the steep side assuming a pint would have been £3.65. Others by Thwaites were Wainwright, Lancaster Bomber, and Original. The guest was Yorkshire Gold by Leeds. RealAleRobUK - 19 Jul 2017 23:16 |
Still a characterful, busy, multi-roomed pub with a good pub atmosphere. Very few pubs round here retain a separate vault. 5 different Thwaites beers on. Well worth a visit. Heatonian - 25 Jan 2014 16:45 |
All change here - now a Daniel Thwaites outlet and has had £250k refurbishment (incl. gents toilets...not before time!). It now serves 5 Thwaites ales and occasionally has a guest. Landlady is friendly and welcoming - don't know about food. Busy. kernott1 - 2 Apr 2013 09:20 |
Was in here last week - it's OK, nice interior cept toilets are scuzzy! Beer - Marstons Pedigree and Tetleys on cask. We drank Pedigree - it's OK but nothing to write home about - kinda leaves you with an anti-social sulphorus smell the next day. All in all pubs in SH are mingin!! kernott1 - 14 Jan 2010 13:17 |
This is as near to a local as I've got. The range of beer has decreased depressingly over the yers (there was until fairly recently 3 or 4 hand-pulled beers, one of which was a real mild) but I think that is now down to one bitter only, everything else being a kakk-y keg beer. But it's still a decent boozer. Big bowling green round the back, with seating front and rear. Inside there are three separate rooms and the bar area on the lounge side and a smaller more down-to-earth bar side. If Warrington are playing a Rugby League game it is usually packed to the hilt as it is one of those pubs that attracts a big RL following (to watch the game on the TV) despite being nowhere near the new ground. When there is no match on it's a comfy, session beer type of pub, one where you can sit with your mates and have a good long natter. anfieldjet - 13 Jun 2008 14:06 |
