| Never been in before but used to pass it a lot, and my visit last week makes me think it has been done up since I was last in the area. The real ale choice was less than remarkable - I am going to assume this is a Greene King pub by the selection on offer, which consisted of Greene King IPA, Doom Bar, Dizzy Blonde, and some kind of Greene King / Radio X mash up called Amplified (or something like that). The saving grace was Summer Lightning by Hop Back - a drink I have not had for many years. A pint set me back £3.30 which I think is reasonable. The outdoor area at the front is nice if you can get a table that isn't cast into shade by the two big square umbrellas. I never understand why places do that - there is plenty of seating inside if you don't like the sun! Would have been interesting to see what this place was like before its refurb, I'm guessing a bit more of a traditional boozer but I could be wrong. But it's another one off the list! | refurbished 2015 due to competition from Costello's nearby - now serving range of Weetwood ales and selection of other - likes to advertise ales it does not have on or that have been on and gone...so expect to have to make a second choice - I'm sure they'll get on top of it - trying too hard - but fair play, at least things have changed here for the better. | Went in here when they had the Xmas Mkt - they had Bombadier on and it was OK - slow service though. Went back in New Year with some mates and all three hand pulls were off...and so were we!!
