Heard about the change of ownership so paid this pub a visit - been here at least couple of occasions but so inebriated that I could barely remember it; I know the beer selection was not exceptional. Pub pretty much as I can (sort of) remember it but the main issue it has 3 Rebellion ales - Blonde, Mutiny & IPA - the latter kept well. Worth a visit because of that fact alone. Was a cracking good local until Carl the landlord left recently. Now the new owners look like they're trying to turn it into a 'Gastro' style pub with 'corporate' colour scheme and have changed the nice old Queen and Albert pub sign just over the road on the Green.Sincerely hope they don't ruin it for the locals. keithieboy - 5 Jul 2011 15:59 |
The Queen and Albert is on my drive home but haven't been into 'The Steps' (as it used to be known by the Woburn Industrial Estate crowd when I worked there) for over 20 years. But spotted the Rebellion Brewery plaque now resident on the exterior wall and ventured in for a quick one last night. And as mentioned below 4 Rebellion beers available on the bar and the Rebellion Blond was an excellent pint. So will concur, a fine traditional pub, now with fine beers. Well done. A fine traditional pub on the green. The new manager has turned the place around and it's now a friendly place with a good range of real ales and ciders. There's a mixed crowd but they're mainly a bit older people who know a good pint when they see one. There's a huge beer garden with a petanque pitch and they've now got good fresh, pub food. paultheoctopus - 20 Jul 2010 15:52 |
A massive improvement from my last visit especially on the beer front, 4 Rebellion beers in good condition. A change of managers in the last few months apparently and much busier from my last visit. Also has Sky sports on the TV. Abteilung - 4 Apr 2010 13:27 |
