A really nice pub, very traditional, they do occasional beer festivals but they are part of the Greene King evil empire, having said that the beer I had was well kept Abteilung - 30 Aug 2009 14:58 |
More Wooburn Marsh and nothing to do with the three pubs on the 'Green', but so what. Very trad pub with the low beams and all that. Three ales were Pride, Youngs and Bombardier - a bit boring but the former was in good nick. Booze_Allen - 17 Jan 2009 15:10 |
Noticed this pub only by the off chance of driving past-Its not visible on the main road, we were all most impressed with this pub ample parking, postcard picture pub with wonderful open log fires - the smell draws you in as you open the door. The staff and few locals were very friendly, and welcoming of my young daughter who had already helped herself to the board games, relaxed atmosphere with cozy settees to slouch in while sampling the beers, had 2 types of draft cider- perfect. We choose the Sunday lunch.. as you have to eat a roast on a Sunday- with the choice of Lamb or Rib of beef ( no pre cooked sliced stuff from the well known chain of restaurants) but some TLC had gone into the prep of this meat, We had the Beef & all I can say to all who love the proper cooked joint of meat-slightly pink- say no more- melted in the mouth. The selection of veg was generous including roasted sweet potato and an additional jug of gravy & horse radish sauce- for the giant Yorkshire pudding! My daughter had the chocolate cake (warm) with ice cream - no comments as she wouldn't let me try & ate the lot. Picses - 10 Mar 2008 12:30 |
'traditional' pub with wooden beams - mind ur head!, good atmosphere produced by pokey inside, and locals' banter (but air ur clothes for 2 days after). beer sometimes good sometimes vinegar (pot luck); or u can drink larger. sometimes have good wines (if overpriced). reasonable menu had pseudo mex theme (but you don't make salsa with tinned tomatoes). overall - 2 many buts to be sorted. wachowski - 6 Oct 2006 14:01 |
