We called in here on spec for a lunchtime drink en route to visit Sir Winston Churchill's home nearby at Chartwell and was very surprised when I checked it out on BITE later to find that it had such a low (3.8) rating. The White Horse is clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We did not eat here, but plenty of other customers were, which is usually a good sign. Three hand pulls, Tribute, Deuchar's IPA and Young's Bitter. The Tribute was probably as good you'll get this far from Cornwall. The pub certainly deserves a better BITE rating, so 8/10 from me. steve2905 - 23 Aug 2014 03:45 |
Called in on the weekend. Good service. Not too expensive. Had a lovely pint of Fullers Summer Ale. Didn't eat, but the place seems much better than 3/10. dan76uk - 6 Jun 2012 12:08 |
Nice looking pub , nice layout . Very unhappy staff (swearing and saying how they were on the verge of walking out) , poor cellar mangement leading to trouble pulling ale every time . Generally slow service .... should be so much better . My friend called me later in the evening to ask if my stomach was as upset as his .... this cannot be definately linked to the beer but it is highly probable in the circumstances . On another note I did see some food being served and it looked quite good . I do think that as it is a pub they should get the basics sorted first . ThirstyMing - 18 Jul 2011 09:49 |
A really attractive and pleasant pub to visit. Decided to try wine and was not disappointed. Good atmosphere and very polite staff. Nice clientele. Decent sized carpark but small garden. cashelard - 8 Jan 2011 17:49 |
An excellent pub with very pleasant staff. Superb food - a little expensive but, then quality doesn't come cheap! Only spoiler was the noise of the traffic in the garden as it's right beside the road, but I suppose there's not much can be done about that. steambeer - 25 Jun 2010 17:13 |
