Renamed "Harte and Magpie", now a traditional pub serving 3 real ales (mainly local brews) reasonable menu mainly pub food with some "game" dishes a tad on the expensive side though. Randyray - 21 Jan 2011 19:08 |
The pub owners won the national Pub of the Year 2009 and have turned round a "lost" chain pub to a real pub again. See the article on the Magpies in the Bucks Free Press in December about how they sheltered the car travellers snowed in on the road. They put them up over night. This is what the British pub is about and this is what they can do when well run by guys who care about their community. Well done Magpies and Cheers cavalier - 9 Mar 2010 11:49 |
I was under the impression that this Website was intended for genuine, unbiased and frankly honest reviews of Pubs, and NOT for some self-obsessed tw@t of an attempted Landlord to self-promote his ridiculous overpriced establishment? Perhaps I'm wrong....go and check it out yourself folks....see if you concur with my ORIGINAL review of the place. As for you, Matthew O'Keefe, you keep deluding yourself that the Royal Standard is the oldest Pub in England.....you make yourself sound like more of a t1t as each day passes... What a difference in a pub, since these guys took over. Great night out, with a fantastic meal. Really friendly staff, and the log fires are back. Welcome back the Magpies. tallie - 13 Nov 2009 17:48 |
